Re: ammoman has green tip .223
That is a good deal... went to one of the local gun shops here yesterday. They were selling cases of PMC .223 for $547/case. Still, I may go back there and get some. Does PMC ammo suck? I really don't know...

Re: ammoman has green tip .223
The plain 55gr M193 was designed for the M16-A1. When they redesigned the M16-A2 with a faster twist, they came out with the M855 62gr penetrator round. In order to distinguish the two they painted the tip green on the new M855.

http://wideners.com/images/fulls/Image1475.jpg I use the stuff. It's accurate enough for me from a standard 16" with a 1:9 twist. |

Re: ammoman has green tip .223
Just a friendly money-saving tip: green-tip costs more, but doesn't work all that much better than plain lead 69-grain.
223 isn't big enough to really pierce much armor either way. I used to buy the green-tip 10-15 years back when they charged the same price for that and the lead 69-gr, but I wouldn't pay more for the green tip now. The tracers and incendiary is fun to play with, but you aren't going to win a Rambo mini-war with it. ------- If you really wanted some serious-AP ammo, you'd make bullets out of gold. Gold is 1.7 times as heavy as lead, almost 2.5 times as heavy as steel. You'd have to work up a handload for it though, and you'd probably be wise to stick with shooting it out of a bolt-action. A semi-auto isn't going to take a 1.7X power increase real well..... -end- |
Re: ammoman has green tip .223
Aren't they more for body armor than metal armor.
